I’m curious what you think about this Richard Idemon’s notion. He based it on the following:
“The Moon is 1) the needy inner infant; and a very common lunar pathology is addiction in all forms, 2) the nurturing parent or inner mother, and 3) the archetypal feminine. The lunar phases represent the triple goddess: 1) the Maiden, the virgin (first quarter), 2) the Nymph or fertile woman, the mother (full Moon) and 3) the Crone, the Witch or wise old woman, the grandmother (last quarter).”
According to Idemon, our concept of Love and how we will relate to our partner stems from how we encountered in our childhood the idea of being nourished and cared for. Can anyone here can relate to that? Thanks for sharing your opinions.
Answer
I like it how Eleanor Buckwalter puts it here:
“The Moon is the basic planet of love because it is the planet of nurturing and growth. It represents the first relationship we ever experience, the mother-child bonding. Because this is our earliest relationship experience, a very intense one and the interaction is repeated often over the earliest months and years, it establishes the ingrained pattern for all subsequent relationships in our lives. The Moon is the baby seeking the breast as well as the breast seeking the baby. And while we may fall in love on the basis of Venus (attraction) and Mars (passion and sex drive), with a lot of Neptune (illusion, "glaze phase” of romance), we find sometime after the honeymoon is over that we have recreated our original family dynamics. We all deep down want to marry our mother. That is why the husband in a “happy marriage” is usually more content than his wife. After all, he got a mommy; all she got was superannuated kid!"
