How big should be the orb for MC?

Up to ten degrees. Depending on the significance the planet close to the angle, if it’s a ruler, more or less aspected etc…

I would say no more than 8' but orbs can be quite contentious issues amongst astrologers. I think Noel Tyl uses max 5' orbs for conj to MC
