What else do fixed signs have in common?

Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius look all so diffrent to me, and with different rulers. I can see that they are all pretty stubborn, but is that it?

The role of the Fixed signs is to maintain, uphold and defend positions, responsibilities, goals or desires in everyday situations. These signs are the least welcoming of change. Their role in the zodiac is to preserve tradition. Fixed signs are not easily distracted—they keep their hands on the steering wheel and their eyes on the road. They can be a bit stubborn or stuck in a rut, a down side of their ability to stay the course. Yet these signs are valued for their consistent, loyal, devoted, reliable and patient natures. Yes, they do hold strong opinions and at times they can be inflexible, but there are some areas in life that those traits are needed and even encouraged. How each sign expresses the Fixed Quality depends on their own characteristics:

he fixed signs are noted for their, well, fixity. We think of them as trenchant, stubborn, willfull, unwilling to change. (Those of you who think Aquarius shouldn’t belong in this pattern, think again. Try and get an Aquarian to alter something it believes is true. Scratch the surface of Aquarius and you can discover a dictator.) Squares between fixed signs are especially problematic, bouncing back and forth between the two points and driving the person who has them a bit mad. Squares between two charts often indicate the very things a couple will fight over, and how. Our word ‘fix’ comes from the Latin figo, which means to fasten, to transfix. But in an odd quirk of linguistics, (and with a little bending of the lexicon, forgive me, Latin scholars) it’s also a variable of the Latin fugo, to put to flight.

Think about it, when you say something is fixed, there is a sense of permanence about it. No season is permanent, however. Perhaps we should consider a synonym that better reflects the realities of pattern and cycle. Perhaps a word like ‘lasting’ or ‘enduring’, or maybe something from the modern vernacular like ‘trending’. That would go a long way towards making the clothing of fixed signs more appropriate for the weather and more comfortable to actually move in.

Looking at the quality of Scorpio and other fixed signs more realistically will expand our consciousness. That gives us a chance to work and be in harmony with what is going on instead of indulging a useless stereotype. If we see fixed signs as diligently carrying a new paradigm forward instead of stubbornly holding it in place, we can understand how it is that the weather and temperature associated with any season is more strongly expressed about a month after the season actually starts.
