He has transiting Saturn going over (back and forth) as it’s rx now, his natal Mars so this is a combination of two malifics, the lesser and the greater ones. Then of course, the wide quincunx formation between the moon & Mars doesn’t help his equilibrium at this time I would imagine, depending on the time of birth and moon’s actual position. But I would think a Saturn tr over his natal Mars is enough to make one sweat for awhile. Thankfully, it will pass soon enough for him as he has been getting the brunt of it full force for awhile.
