The Sidereal zodiac, used in Vedic or Hindu astrology takes the precession into account. It has a different attitude about astrology and the individual, however. Sidereal astrology is very fatalistic about life. Everything is predetermined, and Vedic astrology is only interested in telling you what will and won’t be happening, and when. It does not waste time with personality delineation beyond looking at your destiny.
Perhaps the premise astrology is not wrong, but only your conception of what it means. Remember that there are no actual constellations. It was mans' imagination that organized stars into groups, even though they are not close to each other, but only in the same direction as seen from Earth. Remember that the bothl zodiac systems give 30 degrees to each constellation, even when it’s a tiny constellation like Aries, and even when it’s a big one like Pisces. Here is a site with a Star Map … if you click on the map, a box appears with the zodiac signs names … Aries and Pisces are right beside each other and you can see for yourself that this 30-degree designation is itself artificial. http://csep10.phys.utk.edu/astr161/lect/…
The Tropical zodiac is not based off of the constellations. It is based off of the seasons. Wherever the Spring Equinox is, that is labelled “0 degrees of Aries” and the rest of the zodiac follows from there. It is therefore season-based. There is some validity to this claim, as the whole system of astrology was initially developed to try to understand and anticipate the seasons and their impact on Earth. Tropical or Western astrology is not fatalistic about life, but rather approaches interpretations in such a way that each person has some degree of control and choice both in who they are and in their life … the stars are only an influence.
If today is your birthday: In Vedic astrology, Sun is in the constellation of Pisces In Sidereal astrology, Sun is in the part of the sky names Aries.
There are two branches of astrology that address this.
Tropical Astrology uses the dates of the equinoxes & solstices as the start of the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra & Capricorn).
Sidereal Astrology follows the constellations and as a result, the signs are not the same as Tropical. So yes, it would be in Aquarius.
Personally I prefer Tropical. I find the signs make more sense when identified with the seasons, and I think centuries ago when astrology was codefied, they used constellations as reference, because they matched up back then.
This debate has been going on for ages..
